Today’s double drabble challenge word is “blackmail”.

A double drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 200 words. No more. No less.

If you enjoyed this, let me know!

Holding the tarnished lamp, Dave is stunned.

“One crime, no consequences,” repeats the genie.

But Dave’s already thinking about the bullies from his school days and how he could exact revenge. Except… he’s already won by not ending up like them. He’s moved forward to achieve his dreams.

He contemplates stealing money from a faceless organisation or one of the more obnoxious billionaires.

Except… he’s already achieved wealth and success in his business career.

Crime is just not in his nature! Of all the twists on a wish a genie could offer, why this?

Dave ticks off his options.

Arson…

Jaywalking…

Blackmail…

Murder…

It’s all too gruesome to contemplate. The genie taps a non-existent watch on his wrist impatiently.

Fraud…
