Today’s random word is waif.

A Drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words.

Your beautiful face
and shadowed eyes tell lies, but
Your mouth whispers love

“I can do better than this.” The poet, frustrated, put down his pen and sighed deeply. He’d been asked for a love poem. A series of Haikus meant to accompany a bouquet of flowers for an anniversary gift.

Words of love turned to pain, deception, and loss, reflecting his own view of life.

Taking a breath, he picked up his pen, trying again. He imagined his current lover, with her waif-like body and incredible, deep eyes.

Glowing eyes looking
at me with love, your husband,
Always…forever
