A drabble is a short fiction story with exactly 100 words. Nancy’s challenge encourages us to write a complete story, with a plot and characters, inspired by a random word chosen each day.

Sandy missed travelling. She had divorced a decade before, and now her daughter was an adult, she had no one to travel with.

She loved seeing new places and hearing new languages. It had always been her rule to eat at least one local food and taste one local drink everywhere she went.

But travelling alone? That was scary. Surely she would be bored and lonely? Was she even capable of voyaging solo?

Sandy grinned widely as she took in the thump of the music and the colourful lights, and ordered one pálinka in Budapest’s famous ruin bar, Szimpla Kert.

Sandy’s adventure is semi-autobiographical, she might become a recurring character.
