Margie died before Simon. It was a blessing for Margie but not so for her husband. Nobody finds it easier to become the one left behind.

They lived a beautiful life together. Simon was fifteen years Margie’s senior, so by all measures, her existence ended too soon. Many presumed it was at the hands of a stranger.

The police couldn’t solve the mystery. They quickly ruled out illness. They found no crime-related wounds, self-inflicted or otherwise.

Her loss of life didn’t redound any family members, but it saved the nasty neighbour’s dog, the one meant for the poison.
