A drabble is a 100-word, short fictional story. It is all about exploring, creating and experimenting.
“Why make life harder for yourself?” a sinister tone asked, its source shrouded in darkness.
“Who are you?” Lydia’s voice was barely a whisper, the words heavy with despair. She sat in a dim, cold room, the scars from that horrid night visible even in the dim light.
Her once wavy hair now hung limp and lifeless, as if someone had replaced her heart with a mannequin’s. Her fingers trembled, clutching the edges of her worn blanket.
“I am the part of you that refused to give up — the part that stayed strong and never wavered because of that scumbag.”
This story is inspired by Nancy Oglesby's random drabble challenge and its associated word “waver.”
