“I don’t see the point in placing an ad,” Adele sighed, her wrinkled face contorted into a grimace. “No one wants to meet a senior. Older men still hunger to date a model.”
“Adele, you once were that model. You could be again if you coloured your hair and wore that rosy blush that draws out your chestnut-brown eyes. Men would fall for you.”
“Whatever happened to ‘enjoy a person from the inside out?’”
“That’s what women say when their beauty wanes. My dear, you’re a natural beauty, and whatever was missed, you trained in your modelling class.”
“Don’t you mean pottery class? I hardly call that modelling.”
“Honey, like you, your figurines went from scrawny to shapely and from homely to stunning.”
“Aren’t you glazing over the obvious? Your high regard for me is full of cracks.”
“Place the ad, Adele,” Hazel snapped. “It’s time you moved out!”
