The Best Investment Isn’t About Money — a Smile Could Be One of Them
Drabble # 309- Investment
Today’s word is investment; a celebrity hops in the taxi you’re driving
Dear Diary,
Today’s morning rush became a significant investment in wanting to be a writer.
Five years since graduating from Columbia College; I could’ve gone to law school, but this damn heart wouldn’t stop screaming, “Write!”
Waiting for passengers around 70th and Amsterdam Avenue… cruising along on Monday morning rush hour until I saw a wave…
“Good morning! I said cheerfully.
“Good morning! Barnard College, please,” she said.
I looked from the back rear mirror… my mouth was wide open.
Amy Tan!
She laughed!
“For your smile, you can ask two questions, and I’ll share two golden advice.”
“First question….”
“Then you must teach your daughter this same lesson. How to lose your innocence but not your hope. How to laugh forever.”
My favorite quote from Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club — one of my favorite books.
Thank you, Nancy Oglesby and Fiction Shorts Editors, for a great time, inspiration, and valuable support.
Lynn L. Alexander took us to a lovely bantering at the base camp of Mt.Everest.
Michael John Scott brought me to a fantastic meaning of imagination… one word… I’m smiling and my head is spinning.
Izzibella Beau took me to a place of thoughts about perspectives and reality. Love it!
