Last week, I cleaned the garage. I got rid of the junk that prevented me from parking my car inside and put the unwanted rubbish at the curb. I thought someone would want it, and I was right. The old bookshelf, clothes rack, and ripped recliner were gone within hours.
But not my ten-speed bicycle.
Oddly, that expensive piece of metal was unworthy of a new home until later that night when thieves broke into my house and used it for their getaway.
Days later, police found it at the junkyard, a wilderness of broken hearts and stolen dreams.
