Where does happiness come from?

The random word for day #106 is Glass.

A Drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. No more. No less.

The glass figurine was of a hideous blue bird. The card said it was ‘The Blue Bird of Happiness’.

The picture, which was the inspiration for the figurine, showed the blue bird wrapped in chains, trying to free himself. This bird was more likely to scare people.

It did not look as if being free from the chains was bringing him happiness. He still looked angry, ready to take on the world.

Melissa pondered the bird’s and her predicament - just being freed from the things she felt were enslaving her might bring freedom, but happiness came from a different place.

There are so many amazing drabbles to be read. The variety and clever use of the drabble word of the day add a whole new dimension to the stories.

Here are some that I have enjoyed this week.

Great portrait painting takes talent. Some people have it and some don’t. What do you think about the painter in this drabble by Stephen Dalton
