The Code of Belshazzar
Drabble 326 — Decipher.
Today’s random word is decipher, with a twist the setting must be the first day of school.
It was unbelievable. On our first day of school, the teacher set us up for something far beyond the ordinary. The challenge on the screen: Belshazzar’s Feast, Rembrandt’s painting.
“Decipher the code,” she instructed, pointing at the cryptic Aramaic on the wall in the painting. “Open this Book of Daniel for clues.”
It was beyond us. The code seemed too complex to understand fully on our first day. “We need more resources,” someone muttered.
“It’s just the introduction of our class ahead,” she said, her voice steady. “Be ready for the next session. You’ll need to explain the hidden story.”
