The Courage to Be, Not Seem
RWDrabble 2.0.076 | Friendship
A drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. No more. No less.
I accept this challenge today, with a daily word from Fiction Shorts — friendship. ❤️
Here’s my first drabble, so please don’t be too harsh to judge. 😇
Viking stood in the water, gripping the bloody axe. The wind tickled his bare skin. Strands fell into the eyes.
“You won,” he sighed. The friendship with this wind smelled like home.
On the 30th day of the war, he felt freedom — fragile, absolute happiness: the courage to be, not seem.
Breathe! Inhale freedom! Rise above the sea… Here it was — his land! Here he was —free forever.
He crouched and touched the water.
“I’ll be back,” whispered.
No time left. Viking glanced at the jelly-like corpse, grabbed belongings, and walked away.
The Azov Sea watched him in sorrow.
That’s it, folks! 😊 Please support with claps and comments. Willing to accept and join the challenge? Welcome here:
