Random word drabble 69: “advance”

A monster emerges from the back of the cave

None knew where they came from. The enemy, the Dedek, were firing lasers at everything that moved. Fortunately, the Panock found cover and concealment in a cave facing the sea. The cliffs rose high above them and should confuse the enemy.

The leader worked hard to settle the children. The explosions sounding all about them were terrifying. He recommended that everyone move further to the back of the cave and into the darkness.

Lieutenant Randek was the first to scream and the first to die. While the enemy were making their advance outside, a vastly different enemy was advancing inside.
