The First Sip Sent Her Gagging
RWDrabble 2.0.022 : enrage
This drabble must be from the perspective of the writer’s first cup of coffee.
Alice had told friends so many times that her first cup of coffee was her incentive to get out of bed.
She’d mastered the art of the perfect coffee, water temperature, organic beans, an excellent coffee maker, and the exact amount of cream.
She had paid good money for many inferior offerings in coffee shops.
Alice took her first sip, then spat it out, absolutely enraged. The coffee beans were rancid.
Immediately, she realised her mistake. She’d used the water in the kettle, added the night before, laced with vinegar, which counteracted the build-up of limescale.
An unforgettable mistake!
Note: I live in a hard-water area, so I often have to resort to using vinegar to get rid of the build-up of scale in my kettle.
I actually did this two days ago, just before going to bed, which I wouldn’t normally do. The next morning I used the water to make my first coffee. It was pretty vile.
So thanks Karen Schwartz. You were putty in my hands. 😁
