This is Daily Drabble Journey — short stories of exactly 100 words. Please stay on this page for at least 30 seconds, and let us know you’ve been here with claps, comments or highlights. This story is based on a word from earlier in the year.

Also, I love hearing from readers so please let me know what you think. Many of us on this journey enjoy engaging with readers and writers. I am one of them. Thank you.

It was beyond Kate’s comprehension that Ned thought the frame he selected actually complemented his mother’s gorgeous painting. Kate knew the time Elsa put into selecting each color before putting brushstrokes on her blank canvas. For Ned to distort the entire image with that frame was disgraceful.

Ned simply looked at Kate and laughed.
“Take off those rose-colored glasses, and you’ll see the frame is not as hideous as you think.” Kate was horrified at her absentmindedness.

“It may be true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder — but not when she’s wearing tinted glasses,” she said.
