Day 188 Drabble Challenge — “remind”, western story

Photo by Dominique Hicks on Unsplash

This post is a drabble — a 100-word story using a random word shared by Nancy Oglesby.

I walked down Main Street one last time.

Every building I passed reminded me of good times.

But I had to move on.

There was no one in the store, the sheriff’s office, or the whorehouse.

I knew where they all were.

I flung open the saloon doors.

Silence fell as the whole town stopped eating and stared at me.

The aroma of garlic and tomato filled the air.

“This gunslinger’s leaving town” I said.

“You’re on your own now.”

They turned back to their plates of pasta.

There was no way I was being part of a spaghetti western.
