Today’s random word is:cheer

Sentence inclusion is: If you only knew …

You were always a survivor. You’d come through many challenges, always winning. Despite the doctor’s warnings, and their assurance to do their best for you, it wasn’t enough

The thing is this. I didn’t understand the protocol.

I didn’t know whether I was allowed to give you that last kiss … to cheer you on, and nobody said I could.

I have no idea what your thoughts were as you struggled with the pain.

If you only knew for just one second, the depth of my regret, but my heart assured me we’d meet again, as usual.

Not this time!

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.

Here too, is the link to Nancy Oglesby’s Fiction Shorts where you may join and write your own…
