Today’s random word is insurance; twist — first sentence “They are smarter than we thought”

They are smarter than we thought,” Auntie Lee said. Her voice sounds tight. She clearly hadn’t expected it to come to this.

“Well… the insurance money isn’t yours anyway, Auntie.” I tried to neutralize the situation but knew I should’ve stayed quiet.

“Do you know how many years I had to wipe his ass while she went out shopping? And all he could say was, “She’s young… doesn’t know any better.”

My Aunt was his wife. The young woman was his mistress.

Now that my Uncle has passed, my Aunt got ‘thank you,’ and that woman got money.

That’s life!

Thank you, Nancy Oglesby, for the inspiration.

Thank you, Fiction Shorts Editors, for your valuable time.

Miriam Connolly… her creativity has made my Monday AM more bearable.

Sheridan Walter… I felt like I was watching a movie while reading his story.

OBA.T.K… gotta read his! A brilliant insight into understanding peace in life.
