Jamie telling his mom a fish story — Created using Bing AI image creation tool.

A drabble is a work of fiction, a full story in exactly 100 words, no more, no less. I hope you enjoy it. Please scroll and read for at least 30 seconds. Claps, highlights, and comments are optional but very appreciated.

“Mom, mom, mom,” five-year-old, Jamie, wailed. “I almost caught a big fish. Remember how I went fishing with Daddy and Uncle Steve today? Well, they didn’t catch anything, but I almost caught a really big one. But it got away.”

“Daddy said it must have spat out the hook because the worm was gone, but so was the fish.”

“So, I told Daddy not to worry because the fish probably wanted to take the worm to its mommy. Everyone needs to eat, right?” Jamie said with a toothy grin. “Next time, I’ll invite the fish over for dinner!”

For this drabble, the random word to build the story around is “almost.”
