The bananas were brown and mushy. Felicia couldn’t understand why the supermarket displayed ripe bananas on the verge of spoilage.

“They’re best for baking,” she heard another customer remark to her friend. “But don’t eat them if they have an ‘off-putting’ odour because they’re likely mouldy. The article said they could be filled with bacteria.

As the twosome walked away, Felicia sniffed one of the peels and shrugged. The mushier the flesh, the slipperier it would be when the customer who parked too close to her in the supermarket parking lot stepped on it before entering their luxury car.
