You might call it a prodigal son moment, but there was no father to receive Awashima, and there wasn't even a home to return to. None.

But as she crept out of that room that reeked of all body fluids and all her bad decisions, she was confident that she would never come back. Not even in a box. Never.

Many nights had found her contemplating escape, even after settling her debts with her pimp.

Yet, she remained torn between the familiarity of habit and the fear of navigating a world where her body doesn't have to serve as currency.
