Today’s double drabble challenge word is “burger.”

Today’s double drabble twist is that, “mysterious scribbles appear on the wall.”

A double drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 200 words. No more. No less.

If you enjoyed this, let me know!

I brush my hair carefully. The girls will judge, so it needs to be perfect.

I put on my sparkly new dress, though I don’t want to stand out — I want to fit in.

My new shoes squeeze my toes, but I know my friends will think they’re cool.

I head out to the car with Charlotte’s gift.

The party is already a hubbub of laughter and music when I ring the doorbell.

I find my friends inside and they wave me over to take part in a group surprise they’ve hatched for the birthday girl.

I don’t want to miss out, but when I hesitate, they urge me on, and I know it’s OK.

Next, we head over to the food. I’m eyeing up a mini burger when a shrill scream silences the room.

Charlotte’s mum is carrying an enormous plate of fairy bread, but her eyes are staring beyond us all.
