Today’s random word is: PROXY

Dimitri was starting to get worried.

A multi-billionaire, with appreciating assets all over the world (mostly acquired through his efforts to accumulate clandestine wealth for the President), he had been relaxed knowing his assets were hidden behind layers of proxy shelf companies, shielding him from being identified as the “beneficial owner.”

But now that sanctions were in place because of the war, global countries were pulling out all stops to freeze his assets.

REPO (Russian Elites, Proxies, and Oligarchs) was closing in.

What will the President do, now the background laundering is risky, and will have to slow down?

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.

Here too, is the link to Nancy Oglesby’s Fiction Shorts where you may join and write your own drabbles.
