FICTION SHORTS RANDOM WORD DRABBLE
Things that Go Bump in the Night
Facing a frantic pounding
Today’s Drabble writing prompt is #162. The word is face. During the month of June, we’re mixing things up a bit. For today’s twist, we were asked to start the Drabble using the words — I heard a frantic pounding.
A Drabble is a fiction story of exactly 100 words. When you’re done reading mine, please take a moment to savor it. About 30 seconds lets me know you were here. Thank you!
I heard a frantic pounding of footsteps coming from the attic, down the stairs, and into my kitchen.
Alone in the house, fear kept me frozen as the noisy apparition approached me. It was a woman wearing a flowing white gown and heels. Her face was contorted, and she was screaming, “MOUSE!”
A little brown field mouse was running behind her.
Assessing the situation, I grabbed a broom and chased after both of them finally sending the little fellow scurrying out the front door.
The ghostly woman thanked me and then headed back upstairs.
Today, I’m selling the place — cheap!
