There was no ice cream in the freezer, but there were several bowls of frozen yogurt. There was parfait with a scattering of Oreos, jellies, and fruits, and a bowl of Kunu.
But Sadiya, who was used, to having her way always. Tossed everything out of the refrigerator unit, her voice raised, “Why won’t there be ice cream in this house?”
A few hours later, when the cleaner dragged her tired body from her other job to clean the mess, her eyes misted as she remembered the tiny pieces of stale bread she had slotted between the teeth of her children.
Kunu : Kunu (or kunu zaki) is a traditional Nigerian beverage made from millet, sorghum, or maize. It is a popular drink in Northern Nigeria
