A drabble

The random word is Viaduct, and the twist is to create a drabble plus a quarter (number 251)

The crossing was indeed dangerous. Truckloads of people, and equipment had arrived to start the destruction of the pass to carve a road through the mountain.

The little birds sitting on the trees watched sorrowfully as the first tree was cut.

One said, “Well, this would be our last summer here, unless the humans bent on developing, worked with rather than against nature”.

“Oh yeh, instead of a cavity here, why don't they project?” One of the migratory birds chirped, “and make viaducts here?”

Unfortunately, humans don’t understand the jungle language, as they don’t listen to any sound other than the jingle of money!

“This way, there’s more destruction, more cutting, and carving, and continuous repairing, bringing more money to people involved!”

Sighed the mountain!

Mountains and forests are being destroyed globally to pave way for roads. Ever wonder, why not build bridges instead of carving through the landscape?

This drabble is in response to Nancy Oglesby’s latest challenge random word 251.

I read Mike Range’s drabble just now and loved it!

What a different take on the same word!
