Daisy basks in the sunlight. She likes observing the human kids playing jubilantly in the back yard.

Tommy is an introvert who always plays with a shiny rectangle that mesmerises him.

“Betty, I’ve tweeted your poem,” he informs his sister.

“Tweeted?” Daisy wonders. Only birds chirp and tweet when they sing or chat. How is it possible for humans to tweet soundlessly?

Sue, local gossip extraordinaire, lands graciously on the fence.

“Hi, Daisy,” Sue chirps. “I see the kids are tweeting a story. I’m getting a mini-cell phone and joining social media for a bigger audience for my stories.”

Author’s note:

I wonder if birds gossip. If they do, what would they gossip about?

Certainly there are people who like me, but then there are those who don’t know me who gossip about me. You can’t believe the things I’ve heard. — Carrie Fisher
