Under Siege
A mother’s pledge in the heart of wartime London
Random Drabble Challenge Word: Anxiety
Genre: Historical Fiction
A drabble is a 100-word, short fictional story. It is all about exploring, creating and experimenting.
In the dimly lit bunker of London during the Blitz, Sarah’s hands trembled as the distant booms echoed through the city.
“Mama, will we be safe?” Young Tommy whispered, his eyes wide with anxiety.
“We must trust Mr. Churchill,” she replied, forcing a smile. “He says we’ll endure.”
Outside, the Luftwaffe roared overhead. Sarah remembered the Prime Minister’s voice on the radio: “We shall never surrender.”
A nearby explosion shook the ground. She clutched Tommy tighter, the weight of history pressing upon her.
Sarah vowed to survive for her son amidst the chaos, exemplifying the resilience of a besieged nation.
