RANDOM WORD DRABBLE | FICTION SHORTS #9
Untied Shoes
And lessons learned — or not
The Daily Word is from January 9: DRIBBLE
This is Daily Drabble Journey — short stories of exactly 100 words. Please stay on this page for at least 30 seconds, and let us know you’ve been here with claps, comments or highlights. This story is based on a word from earlier in the year.
Also, I love hearing from readers so please let me know what you think. Many of us on this journey enjoy engaging with readers and writers. I am one of them. Thank you.
Billy’s basketball dribble got fancy as he made his way downcourt, even being double-teamed by the defense. Suddenly, Billy tripped, losing control of the ball — and the game.
People grimaced at the other team’s notorious coach, thinking that double-teaming was unjustified. Sitting in the front row, however, his parents saw everything — asking each other: “How many times have we told him to tie his shoelaces before the game?”
Billy was embarrassed but glad that only his parents knew the truth.
They were always supportive.
When he got home, he was greeted with hugs and new shoes without laces.
