“Nice shirt, Jim!” Sam said with an impressed whistle when he saw me.
The sounds of the Windermere Dragon Academy around us nearly drowned out my snort.
“It’s a vyshyvanka, Sammy, not a shirt,” I said and barely swallowed a laugh at his surprised expression. “It’s a Ukrainian garment. It’s Vyshyvanka Day today.”
“Great! Is this what you wear whenever you’re back home in Kryvyi Rih?” Sam asked with genuine interest.
“Yeah. Black and red geometric diamonds are the colors and patterns of my oblast,” I said as I indicated the embroidery work around the cuffs and down the front.
