“I got another dozen skins today. At this rate, we could make a billion,” said Jamison enthusiastically.

“I’m not sure trapping is where the money is anymore, replied Jake.

I heard the Dutch are paying ten fathoms for Raritan scalps. It’s much more work than setting snares. If we go in at night, they won’t know we’re there until we come out with ten scalps.”

That night, Jake and Jamison snuck into the Raritan camp. However, they didn’t escape with a single scalp, not even their own.

By morning, Jake and Jamison found themselves bound and scalped by Raritan warriors.
