Today’s drabble challenge word is “insufficient”.

Today’s drabble challenge twist is to base the story “in the past”.

A drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. No more. No less.

Tammy lifted one roller-booted heel and glided to a stop outside the high street bank.

Darn! At three minutes past three, they had already closed. She couldn’t even blame her watch for being slow! It was digital!

Pressing the stop button on her Walkman, she hung her headphones around her neck and rummaged around in her stonewashed jeans pocket for her cash machine card.

Typing in her PIN, she attempted a withdrawal.

Insufficient funds!

Drat! She had only deposited her babysitting cheques two days ago.

She only wanted some cash to rent the latest Betamax from the video store!

Getting trapped back in the ’80s, it’s almost like a comic nightmare, which for me is a very real nightmare. Every time I flip through the cable, I have flashbacks.
