Shirley watched Marshall’s car crash interview in dismay.
He sounded so smug and self-satisfied.
She was his girlfriend and the mother of his two youngest children.
Young, beautiful, and pliable, she had become everything he said he wanted.
She listened as he explained how he was still waiting to meet the woman who would become his wife.
Waiting?
After two children and living together for five years, was she not the one?
Yes, sure, he had children with two other women. But he loved her more, right?
Right?
Shirley looked in the mirror.
‘What the hell were you thinking?’
