When Passion Meets Panic
Drabble 348 | Brakes
Today’s challenge is to base our 100-word story on the provided image (above) incorporating the word brakes.
“Y’all remember that S curve the tracks took back in the 80s, just down from the Svenson’s back pasture?
“Well, one night me n’ Becca Sorensen were parked near there, in my daddy’s two-tone Monte Carlo SS, seats flipped back… things startin’ ta get good.
“I hear a rustle and feel a little shimmy, and start thinkin’ ‘I am rockin’ Becca’s world,’ so I get serious… you know.
“Next, I sense we’re movin’, so I lift my head up, and sure enough, we’re headed down that big hill and pickin’ up speed.
“Screamin’ like a girl, I shout, ‘BRAKES!!!’”
Izzibella and I have been on a similar wavelength lately. Yesterday I wrote about Sojourner Truth, and Izzi wrote a story based on the story of Emmett Till. I love that she chose to focus our attention on the inhumanity.
