Grant was leaving federal prison for the second time, on of all days, April 20th, aka, 420 day, which represents a day of celebration for marijuana smokers. He was looking at 8 months in a halfway house — due to be released just before Christmas if he didn’t mess us up. He had spent almost 30 years in prison between the two sentences. When he wasn’t incarcerated, it was his custom to celebrate 420 every day, with more than just pot. He knew a third strike would be the permanent end to his freedom. He was bound and determined to be successful.
