Today’s random word is: laid

Susie looked like one laid-back chick.

Had any humans been around, they would have noted that for most of the day, she lay on her assumed chick sofa, watching Netflix drone on.

Susie couldn’t believe that people would waste their lives watching such melodramatic soap operas. Didn’t they have any idea how their lives were flying by, just watching, watching, watching?

Yet the more she watched, the more engrossed she became in their base form of entertainment…and their habits.

Choking on her last peanut, now struggling to breathe, she realized in reality she was no better than they were.

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.

Here too, is the link to Nancy Oglesby’s Fiction Shorts where you may join and write your own drabbles.
