On nights when the full moon shone, Sandra wouldn’t close the door behind her in windowless rooms. She feared when it reopened, she’d find herself teleported back to her home planet.

She held a powerful secret inked in intricate designs on her skin. Returning home meant she’d be peeled and put in orbit, forever floating circles in the cosmos.

Sandra stayed hidden on Earth, passing for human. She married a sweet man who proposed soon after she convinced him her unusual skin adornments were mystical tattoos, and her habit of leaving all the doors open symbolized her love for him.
