Because drabbles are short, please consider staying on this page for at least 30 seconds so your time counts as a read. And while you’re here, a clap, highlight, comment, or all of them is greatly appreciated. It lets me know you were here.

It was that time again. Francis begged her boss to dismiss her from the Red Cross certification course, citing learning about punctures made her stomach turn, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

He said, “You never know when trauma will find its way here. Employed at a clinic is messy, my dear.”

What did her manager mean? Working for a business that ran writing clinics was hardly dangerous, yet Frances recently noticed the creative clientele fainting. The ambulance visited daily, carting authors away.

After further investigation, she learned that the sensitive writers suffered significant editorial cuts, warranting urgent care.

Remember to visit Fiction Shorts often daily so you don’t miss my daily drabbles and those of other deserving drabblers.

Nancy Oglesby writes, “If you are unfamiliar with a drabble, it is a fiction story of exactly 100 words.” She gives a daily random word prompt to make the challenge more interesting.

Don’t miss out on today’s drabble.
