Kade

Kade didn’t like Ari’s new boyfriend and neither did her cursed cat. The fact that they agreed on anything was a surprise. Ever since she moved in and Freyja’s cat adopted her, he knew something was different about Ari. The cats of Freyja didn’t just protect anyone, and they were exceedingly rare. He’d maybe seen three of Freyja’s felines in his long life, and while they were fierce protectors, chaos almost always followed.

He sometimes suspected Ari was feykin, like him, but that her blood was so diluted, it was inconsequential. Until recently. He’d been around longer than most and he almost missed it. In fact, he’d been alive longer than he should’ve been, but the end of the world seemed to be taking its sweet time. But damn, he was tired. Until this recent mystery popped in his lap. His thoughts went back to the slight woman.

She was attractive, very attractive. And while he could admit he was attracted to her; his world was messy and dangerous. He didn’t want to expose her to that, especially with her fragility and in hiding. But, again, her behavior the other night made him think that perhaps she wasn’t hiding, but instead, ignorant.
