An Autopsy of Adventures

Every body reveals a story
a map of memories
every dimple, scar, and stretch mark

You see scars and think you’re marred, ugly
I see a warrior who has survived tumors, broken bones

You see wrinkles and think I’m looking old
I see the lines around your mouth and eyes and know you laughed often

You see saggy skin and stretch marks
I see someone who has created life three times

You see a body that is tired, broke down
I see a body that has been through so much and survived

You and I are one in the same
The two voices inside argue
Perception changes daily
