Great week.

This week Playway hit a big milestone and is now with the client team to present to stakeholders in New York and London. We’re in the last phases of design dev on Centurion and shifting into pre-production which is super exciting. There’s also rumblings of Project Evie getting a green light too which is mega exciting because it has all of the hallmarks of a great FF design challenge, a proper open brief… design for uncharted territories through and through. I’m very grateful to be loving all of our projects in the studio, such an unusual and interesting mix.

This week we were inspired by the Mile Long Opera ‘a citywide public engagement project, brings together 1,000 singers from across New York for free performances on the High Line, October 3–8, 2018’… Co-created by architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang, with words and lyrics by acclaimed poets Anne Carson and Claudia Rankine. What a spectacle and amazing use of the highline, we especially loved the simple costumes for the 1000 strong chorus.

We were amused to discover a toddler is releasing an album… from the womb.

Nike’s Go FlyEase sneakers perked our interests in terms of the doors they might open for disabled inclusivity.

We attended Space10’s book launch for The Ideal City with guests speakers Helle Søholt (Gehl), Bjarke Ingels (BIG), and Sam Cochran (AD)… haven’t received a copy of the book yet but one press image did send me down a rabbit hole to find out more about this project ‘Play n Park’ by JaJa Architects… in Copenhagen.

I hadn’t really ever known about Danish Kolinihave before, nice little film from Monocle (possible paywall).

Next week we are off to (by which I mean Zoom Obvs) to a talk on creativity by Mette Søberg (Noma head chef of R&D), organised by the absolutely amazing MAD.

Frequently it seems that everything great seems to be in Copenhagen. Hmmm.

There’s an absolute gem of a typographic treasure trove here if you are that way inclined, which of course we are.

Finally we really admired these stunning flowers from Lego.

More Danes. What IS going on this week?

See you next week, possibly in Copenhagen.
