This week we found a photo by Steve Strehl.

If you want to check out Steve on Instagram

He can be found on Twitter @stevestrehl and over on Instagram @stevestrehl. As soon as we found his feed we were captivated by the moments from his adventures he was sharing. His photos typically showcase the sheer scale of mountains and the calmness that can be gathered from moments drinking coffee at a basecamp.

Below is his photo of his fellow climber Nick on Everest Ridge.

We love how the snow highlights the left side of the photograph, potentially indicating how the mountain has a soft side and a difficult side that you can’t see though. The gravel being revealed the tough terrain that is shielded from view by the snowstorm and snow cover across the top of the ridge.

On top of Everest Ridge — Steve Strehl

We asked Steve what the photo was taken with:

Sony a6300 with a Sony 28mm f2.0 lens.

The choice of which boasts an impressive 24mp sensor and the lens is great for when you don’t want to carry anything too bulky up to the top of the mountain. Perfect for close up shots and when you want to capture the mountain completely.

The photo comes in a set also released by the photographer, with the following being the journey to the top of the mountain.

Everest Ridge supposedly gets it’s name from the mountaineers who were originally training for Everest on it’s slopes. The route to the the top of the ridge is only 4.22 miles but the elevation gain is significant.
