We wanted to take the time to move away from our usual interview format and work on something a little different.

For myself the summer has always been one of the most productive times of the year. It’s always been my time for my own projects. This is mostly due to my life up until this point being dominated by school and university holidays.

The time has allowed me to not worry about getting the next deadline done or how long it is until the next exam season approaches. Summer is also when we see more people getting outside, even if it’s sitting outside a coffee shop with a laptop. Seeing others be productive has an incredible effect on making ourselves more productive.

(Humans are simple really)

FIELDWORK has now produced a number of interviews with creatives from a number of fields and it has showcased to me how inspiration can be drawn from anywhere. My inspiration is summer, not the new year but summer. A chance to fix whatever has happened in the year up until this point. Re-evaluate the silly goals I set at the start of the year and target something completely different.

Embrace summer.

Even if it’s too hot to work in an office or you need to take more time to break and enjoy the good weather, do so. But enjoy the buzz. Make sure that you utilise the buzz and push on in your own endeavours.

If the year hasn’t quite gone to plan as much as you would have liked, now is the time to change it.

- Search for that new job.

- Take that much needed holiday.

- Forget about education for summer and grab a summer job doing something you’re passionate about.

- Go to a different coffee shop instead of your local place.

- Work outside (it is possible).

Take inspiration from wherever you can, but enjoy the summer and feel the productivity it can provide.

We want to hear what you’re getting up to this summer and enjoy connecting over Medium, Facebook or Twitter. Please do get in touch.
