Dear all,

We’re so glad to have lots of you join the FIELDWORK community here on Medium. Whether it was a particular interview that hooked you or you have been reading for a while it’s great to have had a community develop that have been reading more regularly.

We’ve been holding some content back for just over a week now as we wanted to make sure it was ready to be released. For you we have an interview with Bhawin Jagad who is talking to us all about minimalist design. He has a brilliantly simple Instagram aesthetic and we can’t wait to share some of his insight with you.

They’ll be plenty more interviews with creatives over the next month to inspire you to go out and pursue your passion. Photographers and designers always receive a great response so we’ll be sure to push people you won’t have heard of onto your screens.

Apart from this we have been taking the time to relax and begin thinking about how to bring Fieldwork into a wider community. We want to develop a print publication that showcases stories based on a theme every issue. This will hopefully, be designed and produced sustainably and tackle a problem that we face in the real world. This may be flooding or water scarcity one issue and climate change in another, the aim of the publication will be to share the stories of those in the world that are tackling these problems and how we can engage more with them.

If you don’t already our Instagram is sharing unique pictures from our contributors and curating unique stories to share on a day to day basis what we are doing to improve the brand and develop our own story. You can find a link to the account here.

On another note we are planning on releasing our first Fieldwork Audio episode to you all by the end of summer, this is only a rough timescale, however, as we are currently debating the best means for this to reach a wide range of people. Typical podcasting sites are losing interest from certain demographics and we want to make sure we target the widest range of people as possible. But there are people working on something for the future.

Our readers have been enjoying summer, with people touring to Peru to climb the Machu Picchu trail and others taking the time to venture to Ibiza to chill and enjoy the beaches.

Let us know what you are up to.

Best,

Rob Collins
