Set within a dense, urban neighborhood, this project views the renovation as a bridge that serves to better connect the traditional front of the home with the rear yard.

Section perspective of renovation connection

The downstairs space is reconfigured as an open studio with large picture frame windows and direct access to the rear yard. Wood floors, walls and built-in cabinetry are also incorporated to complement the light-filled space.

Bathroom

The bathroom is designed as a fully tiled wet space with a punctured window to bring in ample light.

Kitchen

The kitchen upstairs is simple and utilitarian, with a long counter that extends to become an additional laundry space. Again, two large casement windows ensure plenty of natural light in this new, extended work space.
