Beauty and fashion have risen to prominence over the recent years. Given how looking good and healthy has become in our everyday lives, many of us are often caught in a dauntless whirlpool of cosmetic consumerism. As a result, the beauty industry has become a gargantuan sector that can afford to market products costing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. However, not everybody can afford top-of-the-line brands, and cheap alternatives can sometimes be hazardous.

Homemade cosmetics can be made from your kitchen

The secret to cheap and reliable beauty products would be recourse to Do-It-Yourself. You might not realize it yet, but your kitchen is probably hiding most of the raw materials that you need to concoct effective and affordable cosmetics. Angèle Ferreux-Maeght, who is a health-focused chef, has some surprising, yet, simple recipes to level up your beauty game while giving your wallet some rest.

Simple makeup remover

Olive oil is known for its multiple benefits. Utilised as your daily makeup remover, it will nourish, protect, and rejuvenate your skin.

Here are all of the ingredients and equipment that you will need:

  • 5 tablespoons of water.
  • 20 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • A vaporizer flask. For this item, no need to run to the store. You could just recycle one instead.

Here is how to concoct your makeup remover:

  • Mix all ingredients in the flask.
  • Shake vigorously before each use, then spray the mixture on a cotton pad before removing makeup in circular motions.

Great deodorant

When applied to clean, dry skin, sodium bicarbonate neutralizes odours, all while being non-toxic and non-allergenic.

Here are all of the ingredients and equipment that you will need:

  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda.
  • 15 ounces of lavender essence, which can easily be replaced with water and lemon zest if necessary.
  • A vaporizer flask. Again, you can use a recycled one.

Here is how to concoct your deodorant:

  • Mix the ingredients in the bottle and let the bicarbonate dissolve. After just a few days, your deodorant will be ready for use.
  • Apply the deodorant using a washcloth.

Easy face mask

This miracle mask is suitable for all skin types. For not much, it will tone, purify, and nourish your skin.

Here are all of the ingredients and equipment that you will need:

  • 2 tablespoons of liquid honey.
  • ½ of an avocado.
  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt.

Here is how to concoct your deodorant:

  • Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Apply the mixture to clean, dry skin and let everything sit for 10 minutes. Rinse with a towel moistened with lukewarm water.

Efficient scrub

For a gentle and effective exfoliant, use a fine salt on your face and body.

Here are all of the ingredients and equipment that you will need:

  • 3 drops of essential oil. You can use lavender, neroli, or sweet orange extracts.
  • 4 tablespoons of fine salt
  • Some flowers or dried herbs. You can use either lavender or basil.
  • Virgin olive oil.
  • A mason jar.

Here is how to concoct your scrub:

  • Pour the ingredients into the jar and cover with olive oil.
  • Use the scrub under your shower on wet skin.
  • Rub the paste to remove dead skin efficiently.
