Turning old objects into stuff for your pets
Often, our homes are filled with old objects that we plan on getting rid of without ever considering to give them a second chance at being useful. With some imagination and a tad of creativity, however, the old things that clog our garages and our attics could be turned into incredibly useful pet paraphernalia. With just a little bit of effort, we could be decluttering our houses, improving the comfort of our furry friends, and sparing our wallets.
This bed will remind your dog of you
It is a widely known fact that dogs have a particularly acute sense of smell. Bearing this characteristic in mind, there would probably be no better present for them than something that will allow them to smell your presence, and that, even when you are miles away!
Simply put a pillow or a cushion inside a coat that you no longer use, fill the latter’s sleeves with foam or cotton, and sew all of the garment’s openings to prevent the stuffing from coming out in a mess. If you happen to own a big dog, an old blanket will certainly do the trick.
Bigger dogs deserve bigger beds
If your kid has finally given up his or her crib and that you do not plan to have any more down the lane, you might eventually come to find the aforementioned piece of furniture redundant. But fear not! What your offsprings are done using, your dogs can recycle! To turn a crib into a dog bed, simply remove one of the four protective barriers, and throw in some cushions. You can even add a blanket for colder times.
Make your dog’s comfort eco-friendly
We are slowly gravitating towards cleaner lifestyles to help the planet. And with some creativity, you can allow your dog to join our efforts. Creating a bed for your dog could actually be the key. Old tires are commonly rejected items that can cause pollution. If you clean a tire, paint it a nice color, and stuff it with a cushion, you will have yourself a nice, eco-friendly dog bed. You can even make it more comfortable by throwing a blanket on top of the DIY bed.
Dogs deserve houses too
Dog houses, especially nice ones, can go for quite an expensive price. If you want to spare your wallet, simple recourse to Do-It-Yourself! Your house surely conceals some old piece of furniture that you would not mind getting rid off. Simply bring it outside, take out the doors or drawers, and stuff it with a thin mattress, some cushions, and a blanket! An old dresser, for instance, would be ideal for such a project.
Keep your dog warm in the winter
Aside from looking particularly adorable in human clothing, dogs can actually benefit from the warmth the said garments can bring. When the temperature drops, just swathe your furry friends in some of your old garments. Sure, special clothing exists for dogs, but recycling your own will definitely save you some money.
Your pets sometimes need pest relief
To free your dog from the swelling and the itching induced by insect bites, simply dab their wounds with a mixture of water and baking soda. However, if your dog looks like it is suffering from an allergic reaction, do not lose time and go directly to the veterinary.
