Best solution to cure a Saddle Sore…

Not only did this work, but it also inspired me to start to write some of this stuff down as I learn to become a cyclist again. I’ve been back in the saddle after almost 25 years, and I have to say, up until a week or so ago, it’s been paradise. I felt invincible, only to get that checked faster than my best descent.
I mistakingly thought I could commute, on a road bike, wearing regular clothes to my new job. It’s only 5 miles each way and not at a race pace, so I didn’t want to increase my already growing hatred of laundry with additional kit washing every day. Well, when you start Googling the term “folliculitis” researching what might be the most painful saddle sore imaginable, you realize you messed up badly.
The web is littered with tips on how to avoid them, but everything around treatment is limited to suggestions. So, I thought I would put something out there that worked (for me, but hey — could work for you). It took a few days, and I didn’t cycle during that time, but this little orange can with some bandaids and routine showers (two a day to make sure everything down south remained hospital level clean) worked to clear things up for the positive.
Smile’s Prid Drawing Salve. My wife recommended it and boy, was she right. In the first 24 hours, there was a 50% reduction in size and a 100% reduction in pain. Two days later, I did a 16-mile morning ride, and all is well. Now I’m not going to push it, but it feels better to be back in the saddle without wincing.
