Film Courage: What do you wish someone had sat you down and said to you in the beginning of your entertainment career?

Dr. Ken Atchity, Author/Producer: Don’t waste your time. I wish somebody had told me don’t waste your time because I’ve wasted some time in my life believe it or not despite what I’ve said about not wasting time and not waiting and I think that is maybe the only advice that I would have liked to hear.

But they also try and put you in a niche. I was constantly told find your niche, find your niche. I founded a magazine once called Dreamworks and it was about the relationship between dreams and the arts and it was an interdisciplinary journal with Ursula Le Guin and Joyce Carol Oates and John Fowles and Carlos Fuentes on the advisory board and many others. I mean 20 people of equal stature.

It covered all of the arts and I was told by one publisher it was too general. You need to find a niche…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
