Why You’re Not Making Progress As A Writer… And What To Do About It — John Vorhaus

Film Courage: What if an artist feels shame for not loving the process of creating and they find the process extremely painful?

John Vorhaus, Author/Speaker/Artist/Screenwriter: What if the artist feels shame for not enjoying the process or finding the process painful is that what you asked?

Film Courage: Right.

John: Well, I would say if the artist feels shame about anything, the first step would be to stop feeling shame. Accept your process for what it is.

Again, we get back to this idea.

I should be doing better than I am.

I’m doing exactly as well as I can at this moment.

I’m doing the best I can whether it’s painting, drawing, educating myself, whatever it is.

I may be doing it.

I may not be doing it as well as I’d like to but I’m certainly doing it as best I can otherwise I would be doing it better.
