How well does Judd Apatow's pandemic comedy work?

The Bubble is the newest comedy by director Judd Apatow. Co-written by Apatow and Pam Brady, The Bubble is the story of a group of actors contending to be in isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic while simultaneously filming the latest installment of a blockbuster movie franchise.

Like any other film of Apatow's, you have an ensemble cast. The Bubble stars Karen Gillan, Iris Apatow, Pedro Pascal, Leslie Mann, Fred Armisen, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, Kate McKinnon, and Guz Khan. The Bubble has a committed cast full of charm in their roles. Unfortunately, the casting is the sole positive that I can speak on. The Bubble is a meandering comedy that is not funny at all. The best way I can describe it is if a four-course meal is placed before you and it looks outstanding. Then you take a fork and knife to prepare to cut into it. Then you see it's not even a cake (as we see is the current trend), but styrofoam. It felt as if Apatow took the money from Netflix, set a camera in front of the cast, and walked away. The Bubble screams with little to no effort.
